Tailored Websites 101: Not a Theme, Not Quite Custom

Written by Samantha Decker | Sep 5, 2017 8:30:00 AM

What exactly are Tailored Websites? It’s easy enough to figure out that themed websites are built using themes (pretty obvious right?), and custom websites are built from the ground up, but the term “tailored” can be a little confusing.

So, we want to briefly take you through “Tailored Websites 101” and break it down!

What are Tailored Websites?

To make it simple, tailored websites are websites that start with a theme, and then receive some extra modifications (looks, functionality, specialized pages, etc.).

With tailored websites you get the simplicity of choosing a great theme, but you also get the flexibility to change a few aspects of it to fit your church's needs—like that "sweet spot" between a church website template and a custom website.

Is a Tailored Website Right for me?

If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, a tailored website may be right for you:

  • Are you a mid to large-sized church that is unable to budget for a custom site?
  • Are you looking for simplicity, but also need some flexibility in your church website?
  • Have you looked at the e360 Themes, but felt like something was missing?
  • Is there one thing your church focuses on (small groups, multi-campuses, providing next steps to guests) that you are really wanting to highlight?
  • Do you want your homepage to have a unique element that sets it apart?

While the questions on this list are not the only indicators that a tailored website is the right path for you, it’s a great start. Oftentimes we see churches take this path after looking at our themes, and wanting a little “something” extra to put their church website over the top.

What Does the Process Look Like?

With Ekklesia 360, creating a tailored website can be done in 3 easy steps:

1.Choose a Theme

Start with any of our great e360 Themes. Each one of our themes has a Homepage, Subpage, Sermons, Blogs, Articles, Events and all the “standards.” Not only that, but they’re all fully responsive and have easy-edit colors.

2. Add Layouts of Your Choice

This is where the tailoring starts. Each e360 Theme comes with several layouts already built in (mentioned above), but we also have other layouts you can add on. Check out our Ministry Focused Layouts like Group Finders and New Here Pages.

3. Customize

During this phase we get to work with you to meet your church’s specific needs. Pretty much anything’s possible with custom work, but some pretty frequent requests include: Multi Campus Menu, Next Steps Layout, and Custom Site Header.
